The Cottages
The farmhouse and adjoining barns have been converted to form seven cottages one of which is occupied by the managers
Chris Tarpey & Emma Wilson.
Constructed entirely of local sandstone, the buildings retain many original features typical of the farms of the North Pennines, with some open fireplaces, beamed ceilings and original stonework.
The cottages have accommodation of a high quality, heated by adjustable electric storage heating with
supplementary gas, electric or open fires.
All cottages have 4 ring cookers with oven and grill, refrigerator, microwave, vacuum cleaner, ironing facilities,
colour television with Freeview, a VCR and a radio/CD/tape player.
All bathrooms have a bath with an over bath shower, a wash basin and a W.C. There are washing machines
and a tumble drier in a separate "wash house" which also houses the video library and our own free-range eggs
for sale.
There is a large garden area and a car park. Guests are free to wander over the 13 acres of adjoining fields,
woods and riverside. There is approximately 1/4 mile of free trout fishing for guests on the River Balder.
Pets are welcome in Studio, Barn & Low Barn Cottages, provided dogs are kept on a lead at all times outside
the cottages except in the field set aside for pets exercise. A £12 fee per pet is charged.
Lying within easy reach of the whole of the North of England, East Briscoe makes an ideal base from which to walk,
cycle or tour this beautiful region.
At the farm there are cattle, hens and sheep, abundant wildlife, garden space to sit and relax in.
A large greenhouse/conservatory, a barbecue, and mountain bikes are available free for guests use.
All bedrooms except Studio Cottage can take a cot. "Sleeps 4/5" means an extra bed may be used.
